Pirrwitz photographs disused factory interiors, neglected places that nonetheless do not appear uninhabited, because he understands how to put breath of life into ostensibly lifeless things. Everything begins with detail, in colour or form, a long red window, a colourful scrap heap, a blue beam – turned into a subject by photography. We do not see decayed places, but compositions, where lines and colours interplay. They are not mounds of scrap iron anymore, but poetic still lifes, whose aesthetic harmony instantly captivates the viewer.
