Robert Longo - Works on paper | CMP III | 09.09.-22.10.2016

With ROBERT LONGO we are continuing our succsessful exhibition cycle Master Printmakers and present with Works on paper - CMP III a fine selection of his printed works.

Excerpt from the exhibition catalogue Robert Longo – Works on paper
Robert Longo, born in 1953, perhaps feels the same way as Lenny Kravitz – also hailing from Brooklyn in New York City – who is longing for Stillness of Heart in one of his best known songs. In the most populous borough of America’s metropolis it at least doesn’t seem too far to seek some stillness once in a while. [...]
Yet, many of his works show a contrast within themselves: Movement, velocity on one side, solidification, precisely this stillness, on the other. Men in the Cities, one of his most famous series of works, clearly demonstrates and highlights this antithesis. Men in dark suits and women in smart dresses, skirts and high heels move in seemingly bizarre ways, with similarly distorted bodies – some appear as they might be dancing while others seem to be in a trance or about to fall, like being shot with bullets from the void.

We are inaugurating this exhibition with a vernissage in our gallery space on Friday, September 09 from 7pm, to which you are cordially invited for a glass of champagne and a first glance at the exhibited works.

A comprehensive catalogue in two languages is published on occassion of this exhibition.
